Kansas State Fair

Ten years ago, my brother invited me to go to the Kansas State Fair with his wife and kids. It’s something I never really thought to do but said yes to spending some time with my niece and nephew.

I came, I saw and have not missed a single year since and created the same tradition once I started a family.

We make it every year and enjoy the vendors, the rides, the games and ultimately the food.

Every year, I always visit the same staples like Chunky Chet’s, Chans Chicken, Pronto Pup, Original Corn Roast, Homemade Ice Cream and a Funnel Cake. Then mix in other rotating favorites and new additions.

This year, let’s make what I’ve turned into an annual tradition a possibility for someone else. In partnership with the Kansas State Fair, I’m giving away $100 in food tickets plus a pair of gate tickets to the fair which takes place September 11-20.

■The Grand Maritime Bazaar

The Grand Maritime Bazaar is a 4-day event taking place at 102 St Francis North, Wichita, KS 67202. The best way to describe this event is as a Meowwolf-lite art installation & market inspired by major fish markets like Pike’s Place and Toyosu Market, and Victorian-era Carnivals by the sea.
