COMMUNITY
Wagyu Brisket Tamales to benefit kids lunches at Colvin Elementary

In this Friday’s email newsletter, we will be dropping the pre-order link to purchase the special Pinole Blue wagyu brisket tamales made with brisket from Station 8 BBQ.

It’s a collaboration I’m doing with both Pinole Blue and Station 8 BBQ to learn how to make tamales and raise some funds to spread the holiday cheer.

The pre-order will be for tamales to be picked up between 9am and 5pm Thursday or Friday and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.

Tamales will be $40 and proceeds will go to pay for children’s lunches at the place where my educational career started, Colvin Elementary, located in south Wichita.

Our goal is to raise over $1,000 to help pay for kids as no child deserves to go hungry especially at school.

Holiday Popups!

New ones are getting added regularly to our Holiday Pop-Up Bar list! This week’s addition is a new one at the Wichita Marriott that started this week! Catch some holiday spirit at one of these festive options!

Pop-up bars, much like pop-up shops, are limited time experiences. People have a small window of time to enjoy the themed events and honestly, I would say the best one are the holiday pop-up bars.

Mark your calendar for December 12 and December 14 and head over to Newman University for All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914.

All Is Calm tells the true story of the Christmas Truce of 1914. On a cold Christmas Eve, soldiers from opposite sides of World War I laid down their weapons, stepped into No Man’s Land, and shared songs of peace. It began with one voice singing “Stille Nacht” (Silent Night), and soon the battlefield was filled with harmony instead of conflict. Performed entirely by men’s a cappella voices, All Is Calm weaves together letters from soldiers, poetry and songs from the era to create a moving portrait of hope, forgiveness and humanity. It is a story that reminds us of the unity we share during the holidays and the enduring power of music to unite us all.
