Death By Chocolate Recap
One of the city’s best food events took place over the weekend at Exploration Place. It was Death By Chocolate. The sold-out event treated hundreds of guests to 40 different vendors featuring savory and sweet chocolate themed dishes and drinks.
It’s become one of my top ten favorite events in the city. I was fortunate to get the invite to be on the judging panel and this year’s winners included:
Best Sweet Treat: WSU Tech’s NICHE
Best Savory: Candle Club
Best Beverage: Mulligan’s Pub
Creative Use of Chocolate: Intrust Bank Arena
Creative Use of Theme: The Rusty Nail
People’s Choice Award: Sharky’s Island Bites

WEEKLY MINI FEATURE
Gerardo’s Restaurant

2801 West Central Avenue
This week’s Mini-Feature was suggested by Ronda Owens.
In a city full of Mexican options, sometimes you don’t want to deal with trying something new because you may already have a favorite or two.
If Gerardo’s Restaurant isn’t on the list, please check them out. Located at 2801 W. Central, this is a fast casual Mexican option that hamburgers, burritos, tacos, combination plates, enchiladas, flautas, tostadas, and even beer and breakfast.
This is even a place, I’ll stop by to grab a cup of delicious consumè on a cold wintry day. It’s also on my regular rotation for an occasional burrito. While it’s fast casual, the quality is well above “fast food”.
Hours are Tuesday through Thursday 8am to 10pm, Friday and Saturday 8am to 11pm and Sunday 8am to 10pm.
Who should we feature in next week’s mini-feature? Readers decide who we promote for free in the newsletter
