HOLIDAYS
Restaurants Open for Thanksgiving

It’s Thanksgiving week!

You only have a few days to make plans if you’re looking to get carryout somewhere or head to a restaurant for the holiday.

Here’s the list of who’s open. Make those plans ASAP!

NOW OPEN
Social Tap in Andover

420 Heritage Way, Andover

One of the 2025 ICT 100’s Best Restaurants has opened its third location. Social Tap Drinkery can now be found at Andover, KS in the new Heritage Square district off US-54.

OPENING
Smalls Sliders

3500 N. Maize Road

Wichita’s second Smalls Sliders is ready to open to the public next week.

The grand opening for Wichita’s west side location at 3500 N. Maize Road is Tuesday, November 25, at 10 a.m.

DINNER IDEA
The Roasted Duck at KimSon

With the holiday season, perhaps you want to spice things up and add something different besides turkey and ham. Why not roasted duck? Insert KimSon Asian Market. The Asian grocery store at 960 E. Pawnee now has this excellent addition to your holidays available to order.

All of their roasted ducks are marinated for 24 hours before roasting and are priced at $37.99 for a whole duck. That’s the price to get the duck whole or cut up to save you some time.

This has become an annual tradition for my family over Thanksgiving. Something that has saved us a considerable amount of time and a dish our family loves to add to the holiday spread.

Orders can be placed by calling KimSon at 316-262-5235. With the time it takes to prepare, you'll want to give them as much notice as possible. Be aware, they do sell out as well.

DINING SCENE
Openings and Closings

Garden Igloos are back

It’s back. The garden igloos are returned to Nortons Brewing Company. They are the O.G.’s who originally introduced Wichita to the igloos. Since it arrived, there are other options around town, but I feel it’s only appropriate to pay homage to the team who were the trendsetters.

The beer garden in the back of Nortons has been transformed into a section of garden igloos that fill the space. It’s a great way to make use of the outside area that otherwise may not get much action during the colder months.

HIDDEN GEMS
Kimchi Korean Restaurant

For Korean food, one of the underrated gems in Wichita is Kimchi Korean Restaurant.

The restaurant located at Comotara Center has been around for over five years and doesn’t get as much pub as many other eateries in town, so let’s change that.

Kimchi doesn’t have too much seating. The interior has literally around 6-7 tables and can get packed over lunch with the limited capacity.

I’ve been going occasionally since they opened and have had basically the entire menu. For this particular visit, I was feeling the Dolsot Bibimbap, which included rice, carrots, bean sprouts, yuchae, zucchini, and a fried egg in a hot stone pot. It also came with complimentary kimchi.

It may not look like a lot of food, but it’s incredibly filling. Plus it’s so fresh and has a very clean-eating type of feel. It’s not greasy or super oily, just a savory dish with some sweet undertones. Is it spicy? Not at all, but I wouldn’t be opposed to having some additional heat to it.
