The Eddytorial Dining Digest: 10/27/2025
Welcome to the Monday dining digest of the Eddytorial. A weekly newsletter completely dedicated to the local dining scene.

Happy Dining Wichita!
Who’s ready to grub this week?
In today’s email:
Bad Luck Strikes Local Restaurant: Kelly’s Family Diner
One Less Brewery: MBC Lounge
Now Open: Parlor Doughnuts
Giveaway: Yokohama Ramen Izakaya
OPENING THIS WEEK
Bella Vita Bistro reopens Wednesday

1825 S. Broadway
Wichita, Can we unite and support a locally owned restaurant who continues to get hit with bad luck?
Last week I stopped by Kelly’s Family Diner for an excellent breakfast highlighted by some top tier biscuits and gravy. All this after, the restaurant was robbed a couple weeks prior.
Since the robbery, Kelly’s didn’t let the crappy situation faze her. Like every November, Kelly gives out free turkeys to the community. This year, she donated 35 turkeys to the Kansas Food Bank.
Some people may not know, but she lets a church also use her parking lot to feed the homeless, sometimes in the wee hours of the morning.
Then things went south again. The restaurant was broken into yet again this weekend. It’s demoralizing and makes you question why you support the community who continues to do this.
Can we pay it forward?
Times can be tough and sometimes a small gesture like visiting and showing that you see the work she’s doing and to stay strong can go a long ways.
CLOSING
MBC Lounge

117 N. Handley
Another closing has been announced. MBC Lounge at 117 N. Handley, located inside the Slape & Howard building, has announced it’s permanently closing.
The taproom and event space opened in 2024. The building, which may be best known for Aero Plains Brewing, was revived with a brewery when Manhattan Brewing Company took over.
No reason was given for the closure, but its social media shared November 9th will be the final date, with a farewell party on Saturday, November 8.
NOW OPEN
Parlor Doughnuts

7010 W. 21st St.
The wait for Parlor Doughnuts is over. After announcing its arrival over a year ago, the donut shop is now open at 7010 W. 21st St. in the former Hurts Donuts space.
Grand opening took place over the weekend. Hours will be daily from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., but will take off Monday to collect themselves after a busy opening weekend.
COMMUNITY
Be Ready For “Gifted”

Last week, I put out a plea announcing a new series coming to support the local mom-and-pop restaurants.
This is a pro-bono project so to speak to help out those small places that need help, don’t have the budget or knowhow to advertise and could use a little boost.
That’s where I’m stepping in with my friend Jacob Clark of Manage To Create.
We’ve had 20+ restaurants reach out, many sharing their personal stories. It’s pretty moving, and the least we can do is lend a little help.
Our first of many video drops this week.
Stay tuned,
E.B.
P.S. - I appreciate all the videographers who have reached out to help. I’ll be in touch!
Sticking with the same home insurance could cost you
Home insurance costs are rising fast, up nearly 40% nationwide in just the past few years. With premiums changing constantly, sticking with the same provider could mean overpaying by hundreds of dollars. Shopping around and comparing multiple insurers can help lock in better rates without losing the protection your home needs.
