THIS WEEKEND
Parlor Doughnuts opens Saturday

9719 E. 21st St. N.

With the closing of Hurts Donuts, it didn’t take long for Parlor Doughnuts to announce plans of opening in Wichita.

After a much needed renovation of the space at 7010 W. 21st St., the new donut shop specializing in layered donuts is nearing opening day.

I’m told that Parlor Doughnuts will celebrate their grand opening on Saturday, October 25.

NOW OPEN
Kusina Ni Cheska - Wichita’s Filipino restaurant

2516 E. Central Ave.

Wichita has gotten itself a Filipino restaurant.

Kusina Ni Cheska who started as a food truck has graduated to the brick & mortar space with a new store at 2516 E. Central.

I stopped by the food truck last year, enjoyed it thoroughly, visited more times since then.

And now with a new restaurant, you can expect an expanded menu. I dropped by over the weekend to check it out. Be on the lookout for the review.

COMMUNITY
Let’s Come Together

You may see an influx from me especially on social media encouraging you all to visit restaurants around town.

Over the past few months, I've been in contact with multiple owners needing help. They are struggling; they're close to shutting down. I've had phone calls with owners, some conversations with tears. Places pouring their hearts out, reaching for whatever help they can get.

It's hard to hear, and admittedly, it's a lot of pressure to feel like someone is depending on you to help save their business. If they close, I feel guilt.

But at the end of the day, I have to help and will need your help as well. You know who is the first to step up when tragedy hits the community? The restaurant industry, the industry with the slimmest of margins.

Let's pay it forward. In the coming weeks, you will see some pleas for help. Will it be enough? I don't know. I hope so, but I have to try.

I'm not asking you to go to every restaurant. If you can't afford it, don't have the time, or the food isn't up your alley. It's ok. A simple share, liking their business page, leaving them a positive review will all help. Perhaps enough small acts can add up to make a large impact.

Let's do this together

LATEST UPDATE
Paris Baguette

Two years later, traction is finally being made after Paris Baguette was announced for west Wichita.

The original plan was for the restaurant to open near 29th and Ridge, but that fell through. Then, news came out that Paris Baguette would take over the former Hardee’s space at 1320 N. Tyler Road.

Not much traction took place, leaving foodies wondering what happened.
