COMING SOON
Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cook Off

Mark your calendars for September 27. It’s the return of the best organized food event in town!

Since the return to Douglas Avenue the crowds have responded in great numbers. And, the best part...the weather doesn't matter! Hot, mild or even cold, it's chili weather! We expect the crowd to be over 10,000 strong and all of them eager to taste some of the best chili in the Midwest!

With teams from Kansas and surrounding states, the Wichita Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cookoff has been a Wichita tradition for over 30 years. Since 2005 when the Wagonmasters took over the event and brought it back Downtown, the event has exploded with a renewed level of enthusiasm by contestants and attendees alike.

LOCAL SPOTLIGHT
Midwest Battle Buddies

Since 2016, Midwest Battle Buddies has served 43 veterans.

They work to provide service dogs at almost no cost to the veteran, including the dog, training, and equipment.

Rather than hand a veteran a fully-trained dog, the trainers work with the veterans to train their dog themselves, creating a stronger bond - and the veterans get the benefits of canine companionship right away.

THE MISSION
To improve the health and well-being of veterans with PTS, TBI, and other disabilities by providing and training service dogs at no cost to the veteran.

THE VALUES

  • Providing high-quality service dogs, including proper care, feeding, training, and housing.

  • Guaranteeing impeccable stewardship of all financial and capital assets.

  • Modeling unwavering ethical standards.

THE VISION

To be the premier provider and trainer of service dogs for veterans in South Central Kansas.
