A charity hot dog eating competition takes place this weekend

What Up Wichita?
Want to know what’s going on in Wichita? We got you covered with The Eddytorial.
In today’s email:
On The Move: Angelo’s Italian Restaurant
Giveaway: Tattoo Sleeves
Weekend: Wichita Riverfest
Grand Reopening: Aesthetic Solutions
Goodbye: On The Border
ON THE MOVE
Angelo’s Italian Restaurant
Rumors have been floating about Angelo’s Italian Restaurant making a move.
On Thursday afternoon, owners confirmed with me that the popular Italian restaurant at 5900 E. Central Ave will be making a big move this fall down the street.
The new location will be 550 N. Rock Road that was recently Quinton’s Bar & Grill. But a majority of Wichita probably know it more as The Grape, The Shadow, Ernie Biggs or perhaps Dempseys Burger Pub.
Owners are hoping to plan the move around the end of August to mid-September.
GIVEAWAY
Tattoo Sleeve Giveaway!
This is NOT a joke.
The Wichita Wind Surge will be having a tattoo sleeve giveaway for their Thursday, June 4 home game at Equity Bank Park.
All this after a viral situation that took place at a recent Memorial Day game at the ballpark. In light of the situation, the marketing has capitalized on the stunt to host a giveaway.
Don't forget, show your Wichita Riverfest button when buying tickets from June 2 – June 6 for half-priced tickets!
No word on whether the "I Got Me a Sleeve" guy will be on hand signing autographs.
GRAND REOPENING
Aesthetic Solutions back in the original location
Less than a year ago, a fire changed Aesthetic Solutions’ plans — but it never changed their commitment to you. They temporarily relocated to Bradley Fair to make sure they never missed a beat, and now they’re planting permanent roots in a space worthy of everything they've built together.
Join them Saturday, May 30, from 11 AM to 3 PM at the brand-new home — 2929 N Rock Rd, Suite 165 at Comotara Center — for an afternoon of celebration, exclusive open house specials, meet with industry experts, giveaways, and refreshments.
This one's for you.
WEEKEND
Did You Hear? It’s Riverfest Weekend!
There's so much going on that I had to put together an agenda of all the events I'm excited for most. If you're like me and big on itineraries (yes, I'm a nerd like that), I'm sharing mine. Come out and say hi starting this Friday.
But keep in mind, there’s so much more to do outside of what I’m able to fit in my schedule.
The staff at Festivals Inc, put together an incredible digital guide that shows the daily events. No longer do you need to download an app, just bookmark this link and it’ll tell you everything you need to know.
Looking for what food is available? We have a guide for that too which includes some local additions such as Honey & Rues and Sunshine Treats.
Otherwise, I hope to see many of you this weekend and all next week in downtown Wichita. Buttons are now available at Quiktrip or you can purchase them at the gate.
Remember that Sunday, May 31, kids 12 and under get in free with an adult for Family Fun Day. Then Thursday, June 4 is Throwback Thursday where all you need is an old button to get in.
CLOSING
On the Border
The 22-year run for On The Border at 2347 N. Maize Road is about to come to a close.
Employees at the store confirmed that the Mexican grill’s last day of business will be Friday, May 29.
No reason was given for the closure. But this follows much speculation after On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2025.
Last year, about 40 underperforming stores were forced to close.

Blogs You Missed
Let’s catch you up on the blogs you may have missed over the past week from our website, Facebook or Instagram.
This Sunday, May 31, from 1pm to 4pm, come support Wichita’s future entrepreneurs. The Society of Child Entrepreneurs is hosting a Children’s Business Fair at Douglas and Main Street.
As part of Wichita Riverfest, this event is free without a button.
It’s a hands-on marketplace where child entrepreneurs step into real-world business ownership. The kids plan, create, and run their own businesses in a fun, supportive community setting.

Investors see ANOTHER return from Masterworks (!!!!)
That’s 6 sales in 7 months. 29 all time. And the performance?
16.5%, 17.6%, and 17.8%, net annualized returns on sold works held longer than one year (See all 29 at Masterworks.com)
It’s not from stocks, private equity, or real estate… it’s from contemporary and post war art. Crazy, right?
With Masterworks, you don’t need to be a BILLIONAIRE to invest in multi-million dollar art anymore.
Historically, the segment overall has had attractive appreciation and low correlation to stocks.*
Masterworks targets works featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso, identifying what they believe to have significant long-term appreciation potential, not just at the artist level but at the level of individual artworks.
As one of the largest players in the art market, with $1.3 billion invested over 500 artworks, they pass critical advantages through to their 70,000+ members to add art to their portfolios strategically.
