Wichita By E.B. Trivia

Before Bradley Fair, the 320 acres of land that the shopping center sits on used to be home to a two-room cabin and a spacious are that would hold leisurely Sunday afternoon polo matches and social gatherings throughout the 1940s and ‘50s.

DINING
Abode Bar & Bistro opens Thursday

Be on the lookout for our latest blog offering a sneak peek inside Abode Bar & Bistro which will appear in our Monday Dining Digest newsletter drop.

Until then, you are free to check it out for yourself! This new concept opens Thursday at 837 N. Andover Road in the former Rusted Rooster space.

Owner Daniel Mariotti, who many people know from his Il Primo Espresso Cafe, along with William Cody Lonergan of Odd Fellow Hall, have brought something different to Andover.

I’ve long wondered why a growing city like Andover is quite stale, for lack of a better word, when it comes to local restaurants. I’ll give them credit, they’ve recently added Chiang Mai, Livingstons and an upcoming Social Tap, but a place that could make for a nice sit down restaurant, a date night spot, a cool cocktail bar would do wonders for Andover.

That’s where Abode Bar & Bistro comes into play. The space is split into two areas, one that’s more casual with the bar and an outdoor patio, and another area that’s a little more upscale, fine dining, a place you’d want to have a quite date night.

This should be a very welcome addition to the Andover community and even those who live out east. I, for one, had a fantastic time when I stopped by.

Hours for now will be Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Be on the lookout for our first look blog.

Big money for the Kansas Food Bank

Day of Giving at Jersey Mike's Subs was the busiest day in history for the Greenwich, Derby and Maize Road locations.

Because of you, those Jersey Mikes locations will be donating all $42,013.27 in sales to the Kansas Food Bank. That’s not just profits, but total sales for the day.

If you stopped by and purchased a $12 sandwich, all $12 went to charity.
