There’s no St. Patrick’s Day, no NCAA Tournament, surely we can find something fun to do this weekend…. right?

Westlink gets a facelift

Westlink Branch Library - 8515 Bekemeyer

One of the busiest library branches got a new facelift and is back open as of Monday.

Westlink Branch Library near the corner of Central and Tyler reopened after a 2-year remodel.

It’s nearly double in size and includes a conference room, a classroom, more private study spaces, kids and teen rooms, a game room, a creative corner and better technology.

I stopped by and checked it out this week and love what they’ve done.

Now only if I could learn to read pass a fifth grade level.

Day of Giving for Jersey Mike’s Subs

Shout out Jersey Mike's Subs!

This franchise is locally owned and gave back to Wichita in such a big way by donating all sales on Thursday to the Kansas Food Bank and Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas.

It was part of Jersey Mike’s Subs 15th Annual Day of Giving.

More than 3,000 locations participated and donated 100% of sales (not just profits) to 200 local charities.

The Wichita and Derby locations participated and all gave back.

If you’re a hater of franchises, maybe it’s time to think twice and see that there are some good ones out there in the community.

Asian Night Market

Mark it down, May 24! One of the city’s biggest and fastest growing events returns to Equity Bank Park. It’s the return of the Wichita Asian Night Market and tickets are officially on sale.

General admission festivities begin at 6 p.m.

You can save a couple of dollars and purchase early bird general admission tickets for $8 until April 23.

After that, the price goes up to $10 until the day of the event when it’s $12.

Early admission tickets are also available for $22 which get you in an hour earlier at 5 p.m.

If you have never been, the Asian Night Market is inspired by the late night bazaars of Asia. It’s an event where people come together to enjoy the many local eats, drinks, and arts of Asian cuisine, socialize and experience a new nighttime entertainment unlike others in Wichita. The Asian Night Market aims to unite and empower the community by serving as a platform for showcasing local talent, including performers, chefs, entrepreneurs, and fun for all ages.
